August 2: BtC Monthly Review
As early as May, roughly 200 animal advocates on Facebook and Twitter waited with great anticipation for late June’s unveiling of BtC4animals.com. Since then, we’ve featured 3 exceptional causes, hosted our 1st Blog the Change event and are nearing 1200 supporters.
You, all 1200 of you, are the wind that fills our sails, steering a course toward a better life for animals in need. This is what you have accomplished this month:
- END BSL: Operation Denver by Maggie Marton
BtC4nanimals committed to 100 postcards telling Denver’s Mayor to end his city’s Breed Specific Legislation on your behalf and you came through with 72. Not bad for a no-name website in it’s embryonic state! If you thought Maggie was through collecting postcards, rest assured, she has only just begun. If you haven’t yet participated, you haven’t yet missed out. Send your postcards today! (Don’t force Amy to make up the difference by herself!)
- Up for Pups! by Kyla Duffy
A wave of tweets shot across Twitter for this one, and this project is still going strong. Download your free eBook, Mill Dog Manifesto, and tell 3 people what puppy mills are, how they are related to pet shops, and how people can find a family dog at shelters and rescues. Kyla is available to teach children about these important issues by combining an aerialist performance with her UP FOR PUPS! puppy mill education program. Ask Kyla to come to your child’s school!
- Letters for Pets by Freekibble.com
At the beginning of their featured week, FreeKibble.com had already collected 74,000 letters asking the President to declare April 30th “National Adopt A Shelter Pet Day. One week later, that number has reached 11,600!! Have you sent your email yet? Do it once a day, every day. Let’s keep it going and get this job done!
- Blog the Change for Animals
On July 15th, 75 of you adorned your blogs with so many beautiful ways to be the change for animals in need. Reading through each post and comment was undeniably moving. (Yes. You managed to make Kim cry on more than one occasion). Your passionate pleas, your compassion for less fortunate beings, your leadership, your devotion and support of one another – for these things and more you should be very, very proud. Not only did 75 of you take part, 1000 visited BtC4animals.com to see what Blog the Change was about and countless members of your audience were influenced by what you had to say. Way to go, you wonderful people! At the rate this event exploded, we can’t begin to imagine what October 15th will bring!
Your warm welcome and continuous support have made this project so incredibly fulfilling. We can’t thank you enough for all you do.
All the best,
Kim and Amy
