September 2: BtC Monthly Review

Dog TricksThis month, you supported 4 exceptional causes and have a great deal to be proud of! We thank you on behalf of these amazing folks doing great work for animals (and people).

These are the latest updates:

Halt Deadly Wild Horse Roundups

Terrific news! As of today, more than 26,995 letters await delivery to Washington D. C. by Madeleine Pickens’ Pony Express. Each demands an end to BLM’s deadly summer mustang and burro roundups. This number far exceeds the August 1 challenge of 20,000 and it’s still growing.

The deadline has been extended until September 10th. If you haven’t sent your letter (preformatted with the ability to personalize), it’s not too late. Send it now!

Want a great pick-me-up? Madeleine wants to thank you personally. Listen and learn about the Wild Horse Eco Sanctuary she set aside for a pilot program to return 1000 horses from BLM’s holding pens back to the wild.

My Dog is Cool DownloadsMy Dog is Cool by the United Animal Nations

Who wants free fliers to teach pet owners about hot car dangers? YOU DO! You’ve posted about My Dog is Cool on your blogs and Facebook profiles, you’ve tweeted the link, and some of you even did so before we posted!

The good news: These fliers are always available. Just drop by MyDogisCool.com, print some off, and store them in your vehicle. You’ll be prepared to educate an owner the next time you see a dog left in a hot car. Yes, the fliers are great, but please, call for help if necessary!

Thanks to Phetched.com for sharing this cause during Blog the Change.

Grouchy PuppyInfluence Positively by Grouchy Puppy

The work of animal advocates is not often recognized. It’s our job to remedy that. It’s time to do your part!

Know a special animal advocate? Tell Sharon Castellanos! Her interview series, Influence Positively, showcases people who make a difference for animals. It’s not about the scope of the action but the size of the heart behind it that is most important.

This is another ongoing project so keep those submissions coming!

VWB Rabies Campaign 2010Make Rabies History with Veterinarians without Borders

Veterinarians without Borders, during their month-long 2010 rabies campaign, is raising awareness about the 55,000 annual deaths (mostly children) that occur in Africa and Asia. They had 159 Facebook followers on Monday. As of this writing, they now have 263 … and their featured week isn’t over yet. Let’s keep those numbers rising!

It’s fabulous that you’re all tweeting and retweeting, but don’t forget to join VWB on Facebook. Share their news on your Facebook wall and get their message out!

Thank you Bunny Jean Cook and Doreen for the covering this cause in your blog posts!
