May 30: BTC Month in Review

Be the ChangeIn last month’s newsletter, we talked about passing the BTC4animals torch to further community involvement and inject new lifeblood for the sake of animals in need.

Reactions were supportive, yet concern was apparent. Our talented team feared a rough transition and the general community response was summed up when BTC follower Roxanne Hawn tweeted, “Wow, & kind of sad.”

That said, let me tell you what’s happening…

WHY GIVE IT UP?

The impetus for transition came when I faced the shocking possibility of uprooting from my home to another state, increased company responsibilities, emergencies, and more worthy projects than one person can humanly take on. BTC seemed impossible to manage well in many moments. With the growing demands of Amy’s own GoPetFriendly.com, she was unable to step forward in my absence. It seemed we each had done all we could for BTC. Letting go was the only way to keep it alive.

WHY KEEP IT?

Circumstances have changed. No longer facing a move, I’ve made difficult life decisions to carve away overwhelming commitments and reserve time only for those things I love most. BTC is one of those things. From now on, I am upping my commitment to push this project in new directions, driving momentum where status quo has since taken hold.

Sharing this news with Amy, she offered to continue co-funding this project with me. Amy, too, is very much in love with BTC. Although she will officially be stepping into the less demanding role of staff writer, I am so thrilled that she will remain an active and valued voice here!

CHANGES TO THE CHANGE…

With renewed energy of their own, our writers, cause scouts and community managers are all aflutter behind the scenes. (You should see how crazy our FB Group has been!) We’re banking on the fact that it’s contagious. Let’s take BTC to the next level, together!
