Banfield’s Season of Suppers Food Drive
In this challenging economy many people are desperate to keep their pets, but are having difficulty paying for their food. Providing pet food to struggling pet owners can be the difference between keeping pets in loving homes and surrendering him or her to a shelter.
For six years now Banfield Charitable Trust has helped pet owners in need by collecting pet food donations during their Season of Suppers campaign. As we prepare for our own Thanksgiving celebrations, please take a minute to help those who are less fortunate.

Why It Matters
Banfield Charitable Trust has seen a significant increase in calls, both from individuals and nonprofit organizations like human food banks, looking for donations to stock their shelves with pet food. The goal of this year’s Season of Suppers drive is to collect 30,000 pounds of pet food through their Facebook campaign, which will provide at least 60,000 meals to pets in 2012 and immeasurable joy to pet owners. Every click will help keep pets out of shelters and with their loving families.
Jodi Heintz, marketing director at Banfield Charitable Trust, reminds us that:
Pets play a critical role for vulnerable populations. For many home bound seniors, their pets are often times their only source of companionship. For the unemployed, the unconditional love of a pet can provide joy and hope in facing the hard reality of life without work. For many home bound seniors, their pets are often times their only source of companionship. Research shows that pets offer us mental well-being, physical benefits (walking a dog is great exercise and motivation for the elderly to get outdoors), and unconditional love to create a stable home.
For all struggling pet owners, there is dignity an comfort in providing for beloved pet friends.
Let’s help make that happen!
